In our family, we love preparing for Halloween by getting our costumes organized early in the month of October. There is nothing more anxiety-inducing than having nothing to wear to a Halloween party, so I’ve learned not to not leave it to the last minute. I have done the day-of-dash and I can confirm that it isn’t fun and is usually not successful.
This year, the challenge was coming up with something fun for me to wear. I like to have a great costume to wear to hand out candy to the kids who come trick-or-treating at our door. When I asked my kids what I should dress up as, they all agreed they wanted me to dress up as one of the emotion-themed characters from the movie Inside Out. I thought that the characters Disgust or Sadness would be the easiest to put together, depending on what I could find at the store. I wasn’t sure that this was going to be a costume I could just pick up in a package, so I headed to Value Village to begin the search.
Right away I found the Halloween section with new gear and accessories for every costume you can imagine. I found a wig, colored tights, false eyelashes, and all the accessories I needed for my costume. The only thing left to find was an oversized sweater or dress. I quickly found the perfect choice in the aisles of women’s clothing. I was able to put together a creative costume within my budget.
