Its time for another Showhome Sunday!
I love looking at showhomes and seeing what the new and exciting things are out there in home design trends. The designer describes the Ascent as the J. Lo in their line-up, right down to the mantle full of awards and the little extra something in the back. It also knows how to throw a party, with its 10′ long martini-style eating bar. After the last guest leaves, you can retreat to a night of comfort in the posh master suite. Number 1 on our Billboard chart 5 years running.
In terms of space planning, I love the idea of having the eat up bar being in the unused hallway space. This leaves a lot of room open for a larger dining area, and isn’t taking away from another space. I love the U-shaped kitchen it creates as well. Just something different than the norm.
I love the fireplace being centered on the wall, I love the hearth, love the furniture, but hate the stone on the fireplace. it just reminds me of the 70’s for some reason. Too traditional for the space. Otherwise, I love it. I wonder if this floor is laminate or hardwood, because they are really wide planks. I am hoping its laminate for the owners sake, and if it is, it looks well done.
The great room in its entirety looks a bit busy. I might take off the wallpaper. Normally that would be a great place for an accent wall (like I selected for a house with a very similar house), so I can’t believe I am saying that.
Ensuite – I love the tile detail. It looks great. I also bet in 10 years it will be the most dated thing EVER. It wouldn’t be a really expensive change, but still. A change.
I love this bonus room, but its all furniture. Without it, nothing special. The sectional looks a bit pink, but it could be the lighting.
