When Mick is working late or out of town I can usually keep my parenting skills in check for a while. When I am temporarily a single parent the part of the day I struggle with the most is bed time. I am a bedtime push over. I failed bedtime negotiation 101 for real. My kids use the “5 more minutes” about 5 times a night. My favorite bedtime stall tactic is the “but I miss you” statement. “Come lay by me!” and the best yet, “I don’t feel good because there is no cake in my tummy”. Yeah, I bet you do buddy.
It turns out, I am not the only one who has a bedtime staller! In a recent global survey, Netflix found that 61% of parents face bedtime stalling tactics by their kids and 79% of parents make compromises, spending 20 minutes per night negotiating with them to go to bed.
To help us parents master these bedtime negotiations, Netflix and DreamWorks Animation just lanched the Dinotrux 5 Minute Favorites. An entire episode is 5 minutes, allowing the show ending to be the deadline, not you! Hello, parenting secret weapon.
To find it on netflix just search for 5 Minute Favorites.
So tell me, what is the best bedtime stall tactic you have heard? I would love to hear them!
