room design for boys

Two brothers ages 6 and 2 are moving into a room to share together.  The space isn’t big, so their mom wondered if bunk beds would work for their ages and wanted some ideas for their room.

I suggested bunk beds right off, the boys are the perfect ages for them and they are great for saving space.  A light in each bunk would allow each kid to read in bed and have their own personal space.  Because the top bunk cant reach a night stand, a DIY book sling would be perfect to store glasses, books, and a stray toy.

Bedding shown is from land of nod.

A light above each bunk would be perfect for reading in bed.  No need to rewire, these lights just plug into the outlet and run up the wall.  Both lights are from pottery barn.

Book pockets tucked under the mattress let you have storage without having to have a nightstand.  This is perfect for the top bunk!

Place bunk beds on the wall you see first when you walk into the room.  Your kids are actually the perfect age for bunk beds.  Your oldest son is big enough for the top bunk while the youngest is perfect to share the bottom bunk.  You could also get a bed with a trundle underneath if you are worried about him falling off.  A trundle bed is also awesome for sleepovers with cousins.

I have three boys in one room and they love it. That way we have one bedroom designated as the playroom for all of there little toys.

Brooke - Brooklyn Berry Designs

Hey, I’m Brooke!

I am a mom to 4 boys in Calgary, Alberta.  I love learning how things are made, singing to the radio loudly, and can’t stop talking. Fueled by diet coke and chaos, I can often be found working on a project.  You can hang out here for craft ideas and tips, games and activities to do with kids, plus FREE svg files and printables.
