Thanks, I Made It
I often find myself looking at beautiful things for my house and mumbling to myself or whoever is with me, “I could totally make that!” While some people think it is easier to just buy it, I take serious pride in making something myself, for way less money. I am thrilled when someone compliments or likes something I am wearing, or an item in my house, and I can say “thanks, I made it!”
Come Craft With Me
As a busy mom of 3, the best luxury I can get on a weeknight is a night talking to other grown ups. Last week I planned a simple craft night at my house. We all got together after putting the kids to bed and experimented with some glass etching products on various plates, cups, and bowls. I think we have the technique figured out, and I have another craft night coming up to work on some Christmas ornaments, with a tutorial for you coming soon.
Crafting and Cameras
The hardest part of creating a tutorial is remembering to photograph every step of the way, and getting decent pictures that are clear enough to show what you are wanting. Bonus if you can style it to be pinterest worthy. I recently heard of the newest DSLR, the Canon EOS Rebel SL1. I was sent a camera to use and I was jumping up and down with excitement. Please tell me I am not the only one that does that…
I am in love with the Rebel SL1. Honestly, it is so much lighter and smaller than any other DSLR camera I have ever used. In addition to the kit 15-85mm lens I tried out a 40mm pancake lens. With how small the camera body is and switching out the lens, this EOS Rebel SL1 feels like the size of my first point and shoot digital camera. Luckily it has the features and photo capabilities that the fancy cameras we have come to know and expect from Canon. The light weight makes it so much easier on your arms if you are hauling it around or shooting a longer photo session. I find a lot of people pick and choose when to bring their nice cameras because they don’t want to carry it, along with a purse, and other kid / conference / work paraphernalia.
Here are some unedited, straight from the camera photos of my little nuggets. I can’t wait to learn to take better pictures. You better watch out, I might just start a photography business (for those who cant sense the tone, that is sarcasm).
