I have had leather on my brain.  Lots. I teamed up with a group of other bloggers to do a fun collaborative post, only my leather got here late (due to issues of me being indecisive I think…).  Either way, I didn’t have it in time to complete my project to have it shared with the other blogs….

I’ve seen leather cuffs all over pinterest, and while I like them, I wanted to do something different.  I decided to add some leather sleeves to a basic shirt I already had in my closet.

TA DA!

Working with the leather seemed daunting at first, but it actually wasn’t bad at all.  I  found it easy to cut as long as my scissors were sharp.  I bought a special leather needle for my sewing machine, and found that if I went slow I could even use my regular needle and it worked just fine.  I ended up cutting out the leather and just sewing it on top of the sleeve.  Working with the stretchy shirt and non stretchy leather made it tricky, and this method turned out the best and cleanest looking.  What do you think?

Sure does add some bling to a basic t-shirt. The model is beautiful

Hey, I’m Brooke!

I am a mom to 4 boys in Calgary, Alberta.  I love learning how things are made, singing to the radio loudly, and can’t stop talking. Fueled by diet coke and chaos, I can often be found working on a project.  You can hang out here for craft ideas and tips, games and activities to do with kids, plus FREE svg files and printables.
