Its Not A Personality Test
I first heard about Dressing Your Truth from my college bestie who loves to analyze people, mostly herself. I think as a designer its important to know what makes people tick, and how that correlates to how they like their homes to feel. I thought it sounded interesting, but wanted more time to read about it and watch the videos in order. When I was offered a chance to take the online course I jumped at it. The first thing I did on completion was call my friend to discuss it with her. It was such an interesting conversation to see how we view ourselves and your true friends.
What am I rambling about?
Dressing Your Truth® is not a personality quiz, aptitude test, or color code. Its more about energy – what resonates with who you are. You have a certain type of movement. It profiles your energy – including your personality, body, behavior, thoughts and feelings and classifies into 4 Energy types:
Type 1℠ – Element: Air. Describing words: Bright, Fresh, Upword, light, Random. Meadows. Dolphin. Sunrise.
Type 2℠ – Element: Water. Describing words: Soft, subtle, relaxed, elegant. River, Elephant, Dusk.
Type 3℠ – Element: Fire. Describing words: Texture, active, irregular, sure. Grand Canyon, Sunset, Tiger.
Type 4℠ – Element: Earth. Describing words: regal, constant, structured, bold, precise. Frozen lake, swan, full moon.
Listening to Carol Tuttle speak about the talents and gifts each type has, I totally thought I understood where I belonged. I then moved on to the Dressing Your Truth section, and didn’t feel like it identified me. The ladies in the video seemed either too old, or dressed somewhat silly. I didn’t like the way it was portrayed.
I felt like I was a Type 1 Energy with a secondary Type 3 Energy. Neither of these two ladies are wearing anything I would ever choose for myself.

But I looked at my facebook profile and the pictures of myself that I like the most, that I felt the most myself, I was wearing bright colors and I looked like my own style of a Type 1 Energy. It made sense, even if I had to be a type one, I got it.

From my own pinterest boards, here are some outfits I am in love with, that I feel could totally be a Type 1 outfit:
Besides the course, they also have a shop where you can buy items of clothing and accessories based on your type. If you are interested in taking the course yourself, head over to their site to check it out.
