Some days as a mom you are too tired to be an over the top, super involved mom. This isn’t bad. I look back on the days when my oldest was 2 and I was pregnant with a high risk pregnancy (it was twins). I was so sick, and so tired, that a lot of times I was grateful that my son would sit and play with his trains while I crashed on the couch.
Now that we are past that stage I have those tired days way less often, and we get to have more fun as a family. Here is our favorite things to as a family fun time out with kids of differing ages and stages:
Jumping on the tramp- We will let just the kids on and they will chase each other for a long time. They also like it when one parent will roll around and they have to jump over us.
Bike Rides – this works great because the oldest can ride his own and the babies either sit in their seats or in the trailer.
Puzzles and games – we play sight word puzzles, Old Maid, and Go Fish a lot. We have an extra deck of cards that isn’t quite a full deck that the babies play with so they feel involved.
Snacks and movies – We have a few favorites that everyone enjoys and we bring out the popcorn to snack on.
The current family favorite that everyone agrees on is Thomas The Train. The babies are just getting into it and the 4 yo has always loved all of the characters. There are a few new toys coming out that will be a big hit in our house.
Thomas & Friends Take-N-Play Thomas’s Adventure Castle is inspired by the King of the Railway DVD with flags, treasure, drawbridges and knights!
Trackmaster Castle Quest Set features the motorized engines that power themselves around the track. Kids will love the crane (or crankety crank crank as its known in our house) and the castle gate that drops down.
