One benefit of opening up about my journey of infertility was community that reached out to me. As hard as it is to go through, being able to talk to someone who has been there and felt that is priceless. I was very secretive until I had my first son, so people always assume that he came the old fashioned way. This also causes people to judge my decision to go to IVF the second time around, not knowing the years of tests, procedures, drugs, new drugs, and just plain waiting we had to endure. I was way more open about it the second time around, and I have since blogged about it. Check out How I Paid For IVF, Celebrating Mothers Day When Infertile, and my bond with all The Women In The Waiting Room.
As unique as each situation is for every individual or couple, there are also a variety of options available to them. While it seems like IVF is the only available option (and what was needed for me to get my boys) there are plenty of options available.
The Stork is a new home conception aid that provides a non-invasive option that is available without a prescription. I would suggest The Stork as a great option after trying for a few months and before you need to see a specialist. Or even if you have seen a specialist and are wanting to optimize your chances of conceiving each month.
Many fertility treatments, assessments and procedures are awkward and invasive, but The Stork is something you can use in the privacy of your own home where you are the most comfortable. Its affordable and drug free, making it a great first approach for couples to try.
How Does It Work?
The Stork uses a method called cervical cap insemination. I will include the technical video for you since my explanation is anything but technical. However, between friends, let me tell you. It works sort of like a condom and a tampon, combo, using one to collect the sperm and attach it to tampon like wand that you insert vaginally. You leave it in for 4-6 hours, and remove by pulling on the cords (like a tampon). So basically its getting the goods in closer, and leaving them in for longer.
