What Home Decor Trends to watch for in 2017
Every new year there are predictions about the new trends and what will be hot in every category, but my favorites are the home decor trends. Decor Trends for 2017 have been predicited everywhere, but I wanted to share some of my favorites with you.
Green
So many shades and styles are popping up everywhere. Green is a great color to bring into any space because it is seen so often in nature. A cactus, fiddle leaf fig, or olive tree can be the easiest way to start bringing green into a neutral space. For those willing to go big or go home, paint a wall or try a velvet couch in this tone. dresser via Paige Jones.
Hygge
This cozy crochet blanket is available from Canadian shop Top Knot Style.
Pronounced “hoo-ga” Hygge is a Danish word that means coziness or contentment. This seems like a natural fit for surviving cold winters in our homes. Bring the hygge feeling into your home with a beautiful knitted blanket, candles, a reading chair, a hot drink, and a good book by the fire.
Terra Cotta Floors
If you love the scandinavian feel of homes but want something a bit warmer than terra cotta tiles are the way to go. Seen often in spanish or mediterranian style homes, it can be adapted to many interior styles. Look for the matte color
Natural Wood
This is where home finishes are going. First we had the honey oak, then a dark espresso cabinet. Now it is the white cabinetry. Next, its natural wood grain and oak is coming back (scary, I know). I think it will be awhile before people fully embrace the oak, but natural woods will be where it starts, especially the limed oak.
Jewel Tones
With green being the color of the year, jewel tones go well together in both clothing and interiors. Think emerald green, saphire blue, amethsyt purple. This living room (via glitter guide) has always been one of my favorites with a bold color scheme and modern look. If you love this look check out PMQ for Two. Ariel has this look perfected with a realistic budget.
Butterflies
Butterflies are making a comeback, especially in fabric and wallpaper. I am curious to see where this trend goes. This Flutterby wallpaper is from Graham and Brown. Other options I love are this mythical forrest, and, a removable option.
What home decor trends are you digging this year and what are you happy to see go away?
