Life Altering Decisions… Literally.

Have you had a baby?  Did it take you longer than expected to get pregnant? (It felt like it took me forever).  You might have heard about the optional pre-screening ultrasound, called the Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound,  that they give at 13 weeks to tell you if you are at a higher risk for specific pregnancy abnormalities.  I remember my doctor explaining it to me, and I asked her if she had one with her own pregnancies.  Its hard, because the results are a range of numbers and are compared to the norm for your age group.  It just tells you if you are a higher risk and you can then choose to have an amniocentesis to find out for sure.  A lot of times it gives you a sense of panic.  I have known so many women to worry their entire pregnancy, only to deliver their child with no abnormalities. Other times, women choose not to do testing because they wouldn’t terminate a pregnancy based on any of the results.  Its a really personal decision, and its so hard to decide what to do.

In Imperfect Love by Rebecca Talley, Lauren finds out she is pregnant after trying to conceive for a long time.  She is so excited to tell her husband, who seems to be stressed.  What comes next only magnifies the situation.  An abnormal result on the 13 week Nuchal Translucency test.  What would you do?  Its a can of worms, and what seems logical may not make sense in your heart.  Lauren has decisions to make, and it may affect her marriage.  The book is a perfect tale of what could happen.  I can totally relate to the characters, and jump for joy at the end.  Its a perfect ending.  I only wish we heard more of the emotions Lauren feels while moving home, and dealing with her marriage.  It seems to skip over the fact and deal mostly with job hunting.  I for one would like to read how she dealt with those emotions.

Imperfect-Love

About The Book:

Lauren Wilson is well on her way to her happily-ever-after. She has a career she loves, a husband she adores and a baby on the way, but a devastating diagnosis changes everything. The life she’s built suddenly crumbles around her when her husband insists she choose—the baby or him.

Returning to her small hometown to rebuild her shattered life, Lauren crosses paths with Ethan Campbell, the man who stole her teenage heart. The old attraction is still there, but Lauren won’t admit it to anyone—least of all herself. Her only priority is providing a life for her child, and she can’t afford to get it wrong. Ethan is confusing everything, including stirring up feelings she’s not prepared to face. Will she spend her life raising her baby alone or is the family she’s always wanted finally within her reach?

Brooke - Brooklyn Berry Designs

Hey, I’m Brooke!

I am a mom to 4 boys in Calgary, Alberta.  I love learning how things are made, singing to the radio loudly, and can’t stop talking. Fueled by diet coke and chaos, I can often be found working on a project.  You can hang out here for craft ideas and tips, games and activities to do with kids, plus FREE svg files and printables.
