Can one person really make a difference in this world?0fb04f8602f4de1534757f1c06ae234e

Sometimes it seems like one person can’t make that much of a difference. What impact can an individual have to change the world?  Well, there have been a few instances in my life where one person has changed my world, and hopefully I have been able to help make a difference in the life of someone close to me.

I am sure by now everybody knows how I feel about public funding of fertility treatments here in Alberta.  If you are new, or perhaps haven’t read my infertility posts in the past, be sure to go and check them out here.  Right now there is a big decision being made in Alberta’s Government.  The decision on whether or not fertility treatments should be covered by Alberta Health Care is being discussed.  This may seem like a no-brainer.  It should be a human right to be able to have children, and finances should be the last thing holding you back from being a family.fe21abb68f3727890143ded47953fc21

At this time, there are a few simple things that you can do to make a difference.

1.  Be A Voice

Share your thoughts with your friends and family in person.  Shout it from social media.  The joy of the #hashtag and twitter are that one voice can be heard.  If you are on twitter, follow Generations of Hope and use the hash tags #abhc4ivf and #abpoli.  I have found that twitter is an effective tool for the every day person to get their thoughts / tweets seen.

2. Talk To Your MLA

You can find out who your local Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) by visiting:https://streetkey.elections.ab.ca.  I was fortunate enough to meet mine at a community event and we had a great discussion about infertility treatments and the impact the funding would make to every day people.  The personal story is what makes it a real issue, so be sure to tell yours.
If you want more information about meeting your MLA there is great information on the generations of hope site.  You can view it here: https://www.generationsofhope.ca/
Here are some of my own tweets, if you wanted to share.  Just click on the text to tweet.

I am proud to be a part of the Generations of Hope social media team, as I 100% support publicly funded In Vitro Fertilization in Alberta. Feel free to follow the conversation by following @gensofhope or searching #ABHC4IVF #abpoli on Twitter or Facebook.

Shivers reading this. Now I might actually be getting the flu, or else this is an extremely powerful post. It could be both. You know how I feel about using your voice, right? If God and your Mama gave you a voice then you darn well better make use of it. I appreciate how much you have given to this issue. You always use your voice to make a difference and that makes you one of my favourite Alberta people ever. I am hopeful more people will continue to raise their hopeful voices and bring change about now. Thanks so much for using your voice always!

Brooke - Brooklyn Berry Designs

Hey, I’m Brooke!

I am a mom to 4 boys in Calgary, Alberta.  I love learning how things are made, singing to the radio loudly, and can’t stop talking. Fueled by diet coke and chaos, I can often be found working on a project.  You can hang out here for craft ideas and tips, games and activities to do with kids, plus FREE svg files and printables.
