Do you have one room in your house that you just can’t seem to get right? I am always trying to fix my living room. I have a corner fireplace that just seems to block my creativity and stop me setting up my furniture in a ways that I actually like the room. I want to use the items that I already have in my space, or at least spend as little money as possible. I figure the best way to wrap my mind around it is to use what I have and see what works. Then once I can decide exactly what I need, I can purchase a few items to fill in and accomplish the look and style that I want.

While walking through this home, to feature the home tour in my Love Where You Live Series, I found myself falling in love with the style for its modern simplicity. I have been thinking, what about this house do I love, and what am I missing in my own home that makes me not love it so much? After much debate, I have narrowed it down to 3 simple things.

1. Clear the clutter. There isn’t a lot of stuff everywhere. I have no idea where she has it, since I know she loves to knit and crochet, but its not in piles in the living room.

2. A place for everything. Each item needs to have a home, then when you are cleaning it can be done quickly and efficiently because its just putting things away, rather than dealing with the “stuff”.

3. Buy only the things you love, or know will work perfectly. Buy quality, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the most expensive.

I was looking through Sauder’s website and was so excited to find some items that would work perfectly in my living room to give me the look that I was after, without breaking the bank. Each of these items is in the $50 to $300 range, which is perfect for me and my budget.

Brooke - Brooklyn Berry Designs

Hey, I’m Brooke!

I am a mom to 4 boys in Calgary, Alberta.  I love learning how things are made, singing to the radio loudly, and can’t stop talking. Fueled by diet coke and chaos, I can often be found working on a project.  You can hang out here for craft ideas and tips, games and activities to do with kids, plus FREE svg files and printables.
