Outdoor Party Decor

I was sent out a frugal heroes challenge along with several other bloggers across Canada..  What is that, you ask? To take $100 to spend at Walmart and see how far you can stretch it.  I wanted to decorate an outdoor space, but I don’t have a lot of patio furniture (sorry, $100 can’t get me a patio set.  Dang it).

So I thought it would be fun to show an easy an inexpensive outdoor dining tablescape.  Most of the things you could already have on hand, so it would cost even less and everything can be reused.

Table Setting For 4:

  • Table Runners : Already Owned (used at my wedding 8 years ago)
  • Place Mats: $2 (x4)
  • Plates: $2.50 (X4)
  • Bowls:$2 (x4)
  • Salad Bowl: $3
  • Goblets: $3 (x4)
  • Glass Vase: $7.97
  • Lemons and Limes: $3.72
  • Silk Plants: $4 (x3)
  • Bucket for drinks: $4
  • Card Table: $29.46
  • Candles:  Already Owned (used at my wedding 8 years ago)
  • Hemp string: $5

= $91.15

I got a bit crafty and decided to cut a paper lunch bag, stamp it with my initial, and use it to hold my cutlery, napkin, and straws.  I have also seen a cute idea with salt and pepper packets stapled to the front as well!

Now, to take it up a notch, you could move the table to a much more exciting location.  I happen to have a community lake, and was so excited to eat out on the dock.  All I used was a card table and 4 metal folding chairs.  They are light and easy to move, and its more about the scenery than it is about the furniture, don’t you think?

Brooke - Brooklyn Berry Designs

Hey, I’m Brooke!

I am a mom to 4 boys in Calgary, Alberta.  I love learning how things are made, singing to the radio loudly, and can’t stop talking. Fueled by diet coke and chaos, I can often be found working on a project.  You can hang out here for craft ideas and tips, games and activities to do with kids, plus FREE svg files and printables.
