This last weekend I decided to take advantage of the 4 days off school my kids had by hauling all of us down to Idaho to visit my family. I love Idaho. All the great american stores in a city small enough to cross in 20 minutes. Best of all, I have tons of talented family that live there and when we go out to the farm I get tons of my projects checked off my to-do list. These projects include shopping in town for needed items, stopping by to get my hair or face pampered, and wood working tools to drill, chop, saw, and cut.
I love chatting with the family pros to see what things I should be using in my every day life, and I am sharing that wisdom with you now. My list of favorite items I have used lately.
Paula Dorf 2 + 1 for brows. If you haven’t seen her site, its full of tips and tricks to makeup with the goal being to teach you to become your own makup artist! The 2+1 is two brow powder colors, a wax and a brush. The directions tell you to dip the brush into the brow powder then dip the brush into the wax and apply to your brows. I like to put the wax onto my brows first to help keep them in place then apply the color on top and blend with a brush. Both ways work, and your brows look fabulous.
Stay looking as young as you can. Wash your face. It will make you happy and looking young and good. The Sonic clear brushes and massages your face to cleanse it 2x better than using your hands alone. It is great for increasing your skin tone, reduce breakouts, and overall leave your skin healthier.
Epica Fabric Steamer
Perfect for items you can’t iron – curtains, bedding, upholstery or tulle skirts. It heats up really fast – try 45 seconds, and can keep steaming for 45 minutes. The Epica Fabric Steamer is on casters and has an extended arm to reach 51″ long. It will release wrinkles as well as remove hair and lint.
Bamboo Cutting Boards
Two bamboo cutting boards – a large size 18″ x 13″ and a medium 13″ by 8.5″ board are both sturdy and will not crack. I love the way they feel, and hope they last a lot longer than my plastic boards have over the years. Available from Amazon.
Bathroom accessories – the Rainbow Bath line is a modern looking thermoplastic resin that looks like glass but is more durable. The line includes soap dishes, tooth brush holders, soap dispensers, toilet brushes and hand mirrors. I chose the bright white for a clean and simple look. Available from The Bath Outlet.
Kiss Instawave Curler
My hair takes forever to curl – I need high heat and it has to be held on the iron for a while. I sometimes try to read, watch tv, or some how entertain myself while curling (or straightening) my hair which can often lead to disastrous results. The Kiss Curler has a button you push to twist the iron for you – saving your arms from getting tired and allowing you to one hand curl your hair. It curls well for the loose beachy waves. Available from Ulta and Target.
Younique Mascara & Foundation
The most popular item I have heard about from Younique is the fibre lash mascara. It is very easy to apply and your lashes look so long and lush that you would think they were lash extentions. There is a two coat system – after applying regular mascara you then apply the gel coat followed by the fibers, and then another gel coat to seal it in. My puny lashes love the fibre lashes. No complaints so far!
