The Mens Bathroom Conspiracy

Why is it that the men get the upper hand when it comes to bathrooms?

I am visiting my grandma who loves in a small farming community in Idaho. We stopped into the local hardware store to see my uncle brad (who is a mechanic there) when the 4 year old shouted that he needed to poop.

I took him to the women’s bathroom, as that is the norm for moms taking boys to the bathroom. There was a bare empty room, with an empty toilet paper roll. Seeing as how it was a single room with no stalls I cautiously (and slightly terrified of what I would see) entered into the mens bathroom.

Ummm. It smelled like roses. Literally. There was a stand with (typically) an empty toilet paper roll and a stack of 10 extra rolls. Then there was a beautiful table and a nice display of even more supplies.  This mens bathroom was designed and well supplied.

Why is it that the men always get the cool bathrooms? The men’s urinals in public spaces are usually found with TVs above the urinals, ice to melt, you know… entertainment.

My husband tells me that girls don’t need this because we go to the bathroom in groups. Maybe we could pee alone if we had TVs? They just don’t design bathrooms like they used to…

I have to say I have rarely been in a men’s bathroom. My husband does not paint such a rosy picture of what they look like.

Let me guess – there was a ten person line up outside the women’s bathroom and absolutely no wait at all for the men’s.

Brooke - Brooklyn Berry Designs

Hey, I’m Brooke!

I am a mom to 4 boys in Calgary, Alberta.  I love learning how things are made, singing to the radio loudly, and can’t stop talking. Fueled by diet coke and chaos, I can often be found working on a project.  You can hang out here for craft ideas and tips, games and activities to do with kids, plus FREE svg files and printables.
