Upcycle A Door
I was chosen to take part of The Calgary Home + Design Show’s Ultimate Upcycle Challenge: Unhinged, a fun and interactive DIY exhibit meant to inspire creative uses for common household items.
I was given a choice of doors at the ReStore here in Calgary, and told to create something with it. The creations will be displayed at The Calgary Home + Design Show and silently auctioned off to support Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta and ReStore Calgary.
I am no stranger to making furniture with doors, so I was excited to think of something new.
So, the dirty door that I picked:
I wanted to do something that was a bit outside the box. I really liked these ideas I found online of making a shed out of 4 old doors, or making a coffee table out of an interior door.
The idea of creating a unique way to display photos strikes me as interesting. I know for my own home I have a difficult time finding large and unique artwork that isn’t way beyond my budget. Here is some of my inspiration, but you will have to wait to see the final product at the show!
If you would like to win tickets to the Calgary Home Show, leave me a comment telling me what YOU would make out of a door!
