I always love checking out the Dream Home at the Calgary stampede, and this year did not dissapoint!summer fun 063summer fun 067summer fun 068summer fun 069summer fun 070summer fun 071summer fun 072summer fun 073summer fun 075Calgary Stampede Dream Home 2012summer fun 078summer fun 079summer fun 080summer fun 081summer fun 082
I really liked the Industrial Loft feel that this house had.  The brick walls, wood barn doors, accents of metal and leather added a lot of character that usually doesn’t exist in a brand new construction home.

Decorating:

The kids truck bed is awesome, looks wise but I am not sure it would be that practical in REAL life.
The accessories are all really well done.  From the art prints to the smallest accessories it felt well done and not over cluttered.

Most of the furniture was from Restoration Hardware (like the other show homes I saw recently Here and Here). While I love the look of it, I can’t help but think there has to be more options out there. You could have the industrial features to the finishes and more traditional or classic furniture. Not a must, just sayin’.
The lighting fixtures are top notch. I love the vintage exposed edison bulbs.

The shoe organizer in the closet would be a DREAM COME TRUE.  I am currently dreaming of how I could make this work in my house…

I hated the paint color, it was way to dark.  Again, reminds me of Restoration Hardware’s new paint color.  That store depresses me with its dungeon walls.  This would be an easy change though.

Floor Plan:

This house had a Jack and Jill closet.  As neat as an idea it is, I can only imagine the clothes sharing fights that would ensure between two teenage girls.  However, as a mom doing laundry this would be a nice feature.

No attached garage.  Bummer.

Love the dining room AND office.

Living room is set up for a good furniture lay out.

Wish the laundry room was upstairs, but that mudroom would be wonderful.
