A couple of weeks ago my mom had a milestone birthday that needed to be celebrated in a big way.  So we jumped in a borrowed Ford Explorer and escaped to the mountains for a girls weekend. The joy of trips with a small group is that we have no schedule.  The plan is to relax and do whatever activities we feel like on our girls weekend in Canmore. We stayed at the Silver Creek Lodge in Canmore – our room has a full kitchen and the best bathtub ever.  We are retiling the bathroom at our house, so I have been using the kids bathroom which has the most shallow bathrub ever and I hate it.  This bathtub is so deep I can fill it with water deep enough to cover my legs.  It fills from the ceiling which adds to the spa feeling.

We book massages at the Bodhi Spa which is on the bottom floor of the hotel.  It was so convenient to head right to the hottubs after massages. Talk about getting pampered!

We got to tour a beautiful home that is being given away for a lottery. I love the modern look on a mountain home.
I love the modern look of this shop in town.  The modern black siding merging into the white farmhouse style of the building next door is so cool!

Surpises With The Ford Explorer

I honestly think that Ford has the safest cars with features included that prevent accidents, because the one time you aren’t paying close attention is when accidents happen so the notifications help you the most.

The Best Backup Camera –  The backup camera has lines that show where the car is headed and adjust as you turn the wheel, so backing into a parking stall is the easiest thing ever.

A light on the sideview mirror shows when a car is in your blind spot. It will also send a warning if a vehicles approaches while you are backing up.

Ford Sync and CarPlay – The sync system is the best I have ever used. It responds so quickly, there is no lag between answering the phone and being able to talk (which is what happens in my mini van right now). If you don’t know how to connect your phone with the bluetooth or you want to hear a friends music, they can connect their phone to the USB outlet and it automatically connects via Apple CarPlay,

90’s N Sync and Backstreet Boys songs that I love playing on the XM Radio!

Connect your phone to a USB outlet and the CarPlay options will be displayed.  Control your phone with your voice – send text messages, have messages read out loud, and send emails without having to look at the screen. There are 2 USB ports in the front and two in the back that charge twice as fast, even when the car is turned off. All apps can be controlled by voice and steering wheel buttons.

The Lane-Keeping System will send an alert that vibrates the steering wheel when you drive too close to a lane marker.

So while this list might seem like a small thing, these features add up to a big deal.  Safety is always the number one concern, so driving a car that keeps everyone safe is the ultimate goal.

I would love to here of any features you wish you could have in your car. Feel free to leave me a comment on features you like, dont like, or want to try!
