Swap Shop

Toys Toys Everywhere.  They are taking over my life.  And yet, I love them.  What do your kids want for Christmas? my mother in law will ask. TOYS is always my answer.  Anything that will keep them entertained on my 10+ hour drive to visit said mother in law.  Something to keep them entertained so I can blog do the dishes and clean my house.

A while ago, a friend Lisa hosted a fun party where we all got together and swapped clothes our kids had grown out of.  It was great!  I got winter boots for my twins, a new coat, and lots of Halloween costumes.  My son literally wore 4 different costumes this year. Everyone went home happy without spending a dime!  We even took the left overs to a second had clothing store and got $100 which we used to all go out to eat one night.  What the store didn’t take we donated.

Book Swap

Swap For Presents

Heather had an idea of doing this again, only for toys specifically!  So she got it all organized and everyone ended up coming over to my house.  Selling toys can be awesome, but it can also be time consuming and sometimes not really that beneficial in the end.  What is better than gathering toys, friends and food?

We came with lots and left with a few items.  It was great to be able to clean out our houses and trade for some free Christmas presents on top of it.  The remaining toys were donated to WINS in Calgary.  I can’t believe we haven’t done this before.  I ended up with a few awesome toys for my kids and I am relieved that the toys I already had are going to a good home.  No kijiji selling required.

What a cool idea! Fun with friends, getting together and “shopping” without spending $. Love the creative solution to gift giving.

I LOVE this idea. Seriously. Maybe I should set something like this up with my friends. Oh wait, that’s you and you live forever far away. 😉 JK. This is a really good idea.

Set it up with your brother, sister, mom, neighbours, etc. Honestly, we all have tons of toys we want to hold on to because they are great quality, but nobody plays with them anymore. Its a win win for sure.
