I just got some finished photos from a clients house, and am so excited to share them with you! Its funny because for the most part, I feel like my strengths are in putting together finishes for a building a new house. I guess that is what I did for so long, when I did do furniture, art, and accessories it was for show homes, so I got to do whatever I wanted, not having to work around a specific person, incorporate personal artwork, and those things. This home owner moved into this house and just needed help putting together the finishing touches. Art, curtains, throw pillows, etc.
The Challenge
Here is what the room looked like before. They had purchased these two matching sofas but weren’t sure if it was too much of the same color with the rug that they had. They called me the night before the last day to return them.
What I Gave Them
My consensus? These are good basics to start with, but it doesn’t feel right because it needs another color and the finishing touches that make it feel like home. So, I gave them a few options. I put together a pinterest board so that she would have all links to the products and could see them all side by side. When I start an e-design project I have the clients fill out a form asking questions to determine the style they like, where they like to shop, if they like to DIY projects to stretch the budget further, etc. I know that this family is pretty handy, so I gave them some options for fabric to purchase and sew their own curtains (the windows are 12′ and 17′ tall in the living room and adjoining dining room. I also gave them some ready made curtains that could be ordered online.
