There are only 7 weeks until Christmas! Does that sound terrifying or exciting? For me its a little bit of both. I thought I was going to be so organized and ahead of the game but when it comes to getting projects done things tend to take a bit longer than I hoped. Well, today I am sharing a simple project that will jump start your holiday preparations because it can be done with a Cricut Explore Air in 30 minutes or less. These mini felt trees are so cute and can be used as home decor – perhaps under a glass cloche? Or as part of a table setting, even as place holders to hold name cards!
Supplies Needed:
- Cricut Explore Air (also on Amazon)
- Cricut Standard Grip Adhesive Cutting Mat
- Green Felt
- Hot Glue
- Base for trees – I used wood slices but a wood scrap or cardboard would work as well
- Cut file – I used two 3D trees from design space. You can use my file here.
Directions:
- Size your trees to fit where you are trying to place them. I wanted mine to fit under my glass cloche which is 7 inches tall, but you can customize this to whatever works for you.
- Place felt on cutting mat.
- Load into the Cricut. Press go.
- Assemble using hot glue
One thing that I didn’t do, but wish that I did was cut another set of trees out of paper. I think if I glued the felt tree to a paper tree it would result in the best of both worlds. A soft felt tree with the stability of paper, that would stand up a bit straighter. I actually saw a paper flower arrangement by Lia Griffith at a Cricut event and I studied her flowers and greenery for tips. She had a few felt leaves that were glued to cardstock and I thought it was such a great idea to add some strength to the felt for certain types of projects.
I hope this fast and easy mini felt tree project gets you in the craft zone!
