When designing a home, I am great at helping people with the finishes.  Its my favorite part.  To put together the cabinets, flooring, paint, counter tops, window coverings, hardware, lighting, and all the finishing touches.  The part I struggle with?  Accessorizing.  Its tricky because it can be so personal.

A living room is the most public space in your home.  When you entertain guests or hang out as a family, its where everyone congregates (its usually right next to the kitchen).  The coffee table is the center of the living room, and it says a lot about you. It’s where you rest your feet, set your drinks (don’t forget the coaster!), serve your hours d’oeuvres, and it’s where you display the books of all the places you have travelled (or really want to). That’s why your coffee table needs to reflect your personality and look stylish and livable.
Designer and HGTV’s star Emily Henderson has partnered with One Kings Lane to host an exclusive video, “Secrets From a Stylist”, that walks you through her recommendations on how to style up your coffee table, including tips for using different elements, shapes, and texture to create a unified look for your coffee table.”

With twin 1 year old’s, my coffee table styling is pretty bare these days.  I am dreaming of something I can have in a year or two when kids aren’t climbing and jumping off it.  I put together a few dream design boards of items to accessorize with using a few tricks from Emily herself.

So, her tips?  A tray to group items, a shapely vase, a box for remotes, and a statement piece.

What is one Kings Lane? One Kings Lane was the first in the home industry to introduce Flash Sales (in 2009), Tastemaker Tag Sales (in 2010) and Movie Set Sales and Estate Sales (in 2011) – all of which bring unique, exceptional items that are hand-selected and deliver tremendous value for their customers.  The idea of One Kings Lane came about because of a void that Susan and Alison recognized that needed to be filled: there was no single exciting, curated destination online where consumers could shop, find their favorite home and lifestyle brands, discover new ones and get inspired.” Sales on One Kings Lane launch at 8am PT/11 am ET and typically last 72 hours. Quantities are limited – shop early so you won’t miss out!

Exotic

Each day, you will find a mix of:

  • Daily Sales – Top-brand and beautifully merchandised assortments from top home decor and lifestyle brands. Shop categories that range from furniture and lighting to rugs, art, accessories, tabletop, bed and bath, travel, kids, pets, stationery, gifts, and much more.
  • Tastemaker Tag Sales – These popular events bring members one-of-a-kind furniture, accessories, antiques and more, personally hand-picked by today’s leading design visionaries from their own collections—at well below estimated value.
  • Vintage and Market Finds – The industry’s first curated marketplace brings One Kings Lane members an even broader selection of unique collectables and timeless pieces from the country’s top designers and antiques dealers. Vintage & Market Finds also allows members to shop by nine categories including: Art, Books,
  • Decorative Accessories, Floor Coverings, Furniture, Lighting, Tabletop, Textiles and Wall Decor.

New products are added daily and are sold on Vintage & Market Finds for five days, or until sold out.

So, Check out One Kings Lane, become a member, and try not to freak out about how awesome and affordable their items are.  Don’t wait, the groups are only available for a short time, and sell out quickly.  I learned that the hard way.

I’m raising a bunch of kids like you and I too dream of the day when my house will look like this. Okay, let’s be real, that has nothing to do with the kids. But a little help from you will go a long way.

I love your picks, especially the yellow pillow in Colourful Glam and the trays in Rustic Cottage.

Brooke, What awesome inspiration for accessorizing. I actually find that to be so fun. I call it ‘playing house’. Beautiful boards filled with all the pretties One King Lane offers. And I know I experienced the same thing…don’t think about it too long or you’ll miss out. Thanks for the reminder.
Love your cool blog! I’ll be back.
Cheers to you and yours from your bsb fb friend,

Wait, I can have something other than playdoh on my coffee table? I love the boards here and am now dreaming of a day when I can pull the coffee table out of the corner where I shoved it and put it back front and center in my life. Thanks for the great suggestions!

Mine moves around, depending on what area of the house I am trying to block kids from. One day, we will have them pulled out and styled! I promise.

I had to rearrange things at my own home too. I am taking one area at a time, using what I already own first. Hopefully that will keep my credit card a bit happier! Good luck, and send me photos!
