Have you ever wanted to get your DNA tested?  The whole idea seems so high-tech but the inspiring stories of people who have learned so much about themselves are found today.  Your DNA can tell you so much about yourself.  If you are looking for information about your ancestry and to understand who you are or where you are from your DNA data can tell you that!

What can you learn with your DNA test results?

  • Get insight into which regions of the world your ancestors were from
  • Learn what heritage resides in your DNA
  • Determine if people are descendants of the same ancestors

What does DNA results tell you about your ancestry?

These answers about your ancestors and heritage can give you greater insight into who you are, where you are from, and possibly connect you to a culture you didn’t know you belonged to before! People who receive their genetic results from 23andMe see the percentage breakdown of their ancestry from 31 different populations around the world.

Find Your Ancestors With DNA

There are so many stories of people who have learned amazing things from DNA.  My college roommate was always told she looked Italian but never gave it a second thought because neither of her parents were Italian.  After doing a DNA ancestry test she learned that she is 55% Italian. This discovery went further into her Mother’s ancestry who found out that her biological parents were Italian, and she had no idea! (She always knew she was adopted, but had no information on her ancestry).

This information opened a whole new world, and she was able to travel to Italy with her Mother and visit the towns her grandparents had lived in, visited grave sites of grand and great-grandparents.  It was so inspiring for their family, even as a friend I get excited and what an experience it was.  I recently did my test with 23andMe to get my DNA results, and will let you know what I find out!

Brooke - Brooklyn Berry Designs

Hey, I’m Brooke!

I am a mom to 4 boys in Calgary, Alberta.  I love learning how things are made, singing to the radio loudly, and can’t stop talking. Fueled by diet coke and chaos, I can often be found working on a project.  You can hang out here for craft ideas and tips, games and activities to do with kids, plus FREE svg files and printables.
