I used to make own gift tags with left over wrapping paper scraps and while that is functional, it doesn’t look very pretty.  I also like that it is inexpensive because spending money on something that is going straight to the garbage is not ideal.  What is a girl with designer taste and frugal tendencies to do?

Free Printable Gift Tags

The best thing to happen to my Christmas wrapping goals is free printable gift tags.  And to give credit where credit is due, my incredible mother who has amazing taste gave me this idea.  Thanks mom!  To make some sassy or funny gift tags, I wrote up a few tag ideas and thought I would share the free printable with you.  These funny gift tags would be a cute gift for a friend if they were all cut out with ribbon added.

To make your own funny gift tags there are a few different ways to go it, depending on what craft supplies you have.  You know how sometimes you are making a project and you can think of a way that it would look perfect and be so much easier, but you have to brain how to get it all to work?  That is this project for me.

3 Ways To Use Printable Gift Tags

The easiest way to make these would be to print out the tags with the rectangle outline.  Use scissors to cut along the outlines and punch a hole in the top.

For a more detailed design or for those of you who already own scrapbooking tools you can print out the version without labels.  Use a tag punch or die cut machine to add something extra to your tags.  I use the platinum 6 from spellbinders and the Christmas Tag die cut set.

Lastly, if you have an elecronic cutting machine, like a Cricut, you could use the image with a transparent background (.png file) and import it into the cricut design space.  From there you can add any tag shape you like and use the print then cut feature.  AWESOME!

Now these are so clever and so funny! It is like you are giving a bonus gift with the actual gift because each funny quote will put a smile on the recipient’s face when they begin to open the gift. Love it!

What a cute idea! I, too, hate how disposable Christmas stuff has become!

Hey, I’m Brooke!

I am a mom to 4 boys in Calgary, Alberta.  I love learning how things are made, singing to the radio loudly, and can’t stop talking. Fueled by diet coke and chaos, I can often be found working on a project.  You can hang out here for craft ideas and tips, games and activities to do with kids, plus FREE svg files and printables.
