Have you seen all the cute giant banners all over instagram? I am loving them, and so I decided to make a fabric banner for myself. Even better, a no sew fabric banner. Because who wants to haul out the sewing maching for a simple little craft? You could, if you wanted to I guess.
If you missed my first post, I am teaming up with 11 other Canadian bloggers for #12monthsofDIY. 12 materials, 12 months, 144 craft projects to inspire. PLUS, we are sharing our favorites on instagram, so if you have a project, I will post the details in a bit. Last month brought us mason jar crafts, and this time my group of Canadian Design Bloggers is bringing you DIY fabric crafts.
- Wooden Dowel
- 1/4 yard of fabric (I used Garden Odyssey Fog)
- Metallic Iron On Vinyl (mine is from expressions vinyl)
- Cricut Explore (or other cutting machine, or you could even cut by hand)
I started to iron the fabric, folding the edges in to the shape that I wanted. I quickly realized that because it would be hanging on the wall and not getting touched I could glue the edges rather than sewing! So I ironed everything, then used regular white school glue on the edges. I wrapped the top around a wooden dowel and glued it down too. Attach a string of twine and hang it on the wall!
Now it’s time to see the rest of the DIY fabric project ideas from my Canadian blogging friends.

Love this. I need to try the iron on stuff, love the gold.
The iron on stuff is amazing! It makes it easy to look professionally done, not DIY.
I think your choice to use glue rather than sew the sides was a very good one. The banner turned out really well. I love the pattern on your fabric and I think the fabric was perfect for gluing! You gave me an idea!
