It was a year ago that Christina from The DIY Mommy asked if anyone was interested in participating in a monthly challenge using the same materials and seeing what all the creative people came up with.

Each month we had one material to incorporate into our projects.  It started with January and Mason Jars – my project included mercury glass painted mason jars with fairy lights inside. Some months materials were easy for me to think of projects I wanted to make – a project I needed for a specific space in my home or as a gift to friends or family.  Other months really made me think.

I love this group project and secretly hope that it continues in some form next year.  Not only was having a deadline and goal essential to me, I loved getting to know the 11 other bloggers and seeing how creative we could be.

Here are all 12 projects for 12 Months Of DIY (clicking on each image will take you to that post):

My favorite Craft project of the year would have to be the June Spraypaint project.  I made a himmeli plant holder for my twin sons bedroom (see the room here) using disposible straws, wire, and spray paint.  I chose this as my favorite because it was the perfect combination of a very low cost project that looks like something I would totally buy in a store. I plan on making a few more different shapes because I want to use it every time I take pictures of a corner of my home.  It just looks good everywhere!
